Lakes Mini Break

After the dazzling delights of Dubrovnik a three day mini-break in the Lakes was quite refreshing.  My sister Julie continues her recovery from a full knee replacement was keen to get a bit of walking in.  Arriving in Ambleside on Monday in full sunshine gave us the opportunity to walk along the tracks and footpaths along the river and then Rydal Water, Loughrigg Terrace to Grasmere.

Just out of Ambleside and we spotted these little critters on the other side of the dry stone wall

Recent heavy rain meant that the rivers and waterfalls were high and this runner took her time in crossing the stepping stones.

Give us a kiss then!

Tuesday was much more cloudy, but stayed dry enough for a stroll along the Cumbrian Way following the shores of Coniston to Torver and back.

Very heavy rain overnight and a cold morning on Wednesday meant a quick stop off in Broughton before heading for Ulverston for a spot of lunch.  A few showers, but managed to dodge them pretty much.
