After the high winds of yesterday Monday dawned bright and sunny.
Port de Soller from hotel balcony
After an early breakfast, we headed north from Soller stopping off at the mirador to enjoy the view.
Looking back at the Port and the entrance to the harbour from the mirador
Mirador De Ses Barques
Puig Major the highest point on the island – from Cuber Reservoir
From Cuber we contoured across the limestone to find a cairned path leading on up to the summit.
being watched all the way
Puig Major now in the distance
This is a great walk done in perfect conditions with black vultures soaring above us for most of the day – slightly disturbing, given the challenging terrain!
Looking back at Sa Rateta from the Coll des Gats
Another climb up to the Franquera summits
before descending to the col and then the final climb up onto the summit of L’Ofre
From the summit of L’Ofre looking down to the farmed plateau with the telecommunications mast on Al Fabia ridge in the distance
All that remained was the walk back along the GR 221 alongside the reservoir before a stop off at one of the most picturesque villages on the island - Fornalutx
Fornalutx – above and below
Tram back at the Port
…and finally up to the lighthouse
to see the sunset
