Up to Moorfield Trigpoint

One look from the bedroom window this morning convinced me that heading out over the moors would bring little in the way of views.  The cloud base was low and the skies were leaden.  A bit of a lie in then and then headed down the lane towards Borsdane Wood by nine o’clock.

Swathes of snowdrops on the way to Moorfield TP

Over the fields and up to Moorfield Trigpoint and then part of the way back to take a farm track that I’ve only been on once coming the opposite way.  Good opportunity to see how the paths and tracks link up with the dismantled rail tracks that criss cross this area once serving the many small collieries which existed.

A satisfying run out to Hindley Cemetery, back through the woods and then up to Hindley Hall Golf Course and the Leeds Liverpool canal at Top Lock.  Back along Withington Lane and skirting Woodshaw before heading back across the fields.  A fairly drizzly eight and half miles banked, good to get out Smile
