Three Shires Fell Race - Saturday 20th September

Fine day for a run out from Three Shires Stone to bag a few summits and cross the race route to see friends on the race.  We headed over Wet Side Edge to pick up a total of nine Birketts (summits over 1,000ft in Cumbria)  Hell Gill Pike and Little Carrs being the first two, followed by Great Carrs, Swirl How, Great How Crags, Prison Band, Wetherlam, and a collection east of Birk Fell Man.  Great conditions and some climbing in the legs albeit fairly short on distance, giving us nine miles.  Can’t help feeling this weekend might be the last in shorts until Mallorca at the end of October – bring it on Smile
